Davis Art Center

The collaborative mural at the Davis Art Center is shaping up nicely! We are having such a great time together working on this on going project. We left with the colorful ribbons flowing through the piece. I finished adding the second coat of color on the drops on the left and right side of the piece. Now that the ribbons are in place it is time to add the flying fish, what else says, momentum like FLYING FISH!?! We are using a drawing of Mark Rivera's, which is just perfect! Next up will be to paint in the flying fish. Until next time!

Santa Cruz Open Studios Newbie Meeting

Yes, it is true, I am in the 2013 Santa Cruz Open Studios this year! As a first timer, I had a meeting to attend which gave us tips and advice for our first time.

James Aschbacher gave great tips and is a really funny guy. If you get a chance to visit his studio this year, you should! Open Studios starts in October! I hope to see you then!

Davis Art Center - Discovery Art- Momentum

Here we are at the Davis Art Center, located at 1919 F Street in Davis, CA. Yesterday was my first day at the site, I am one of four artist that has been chosen to work together on a collaborative mural. This large piece will be created over a 2 month period. We will be taking ideas and images that the community creates in one of the many interactive parts of the gallery. When I first walked into the gallery I was not able to keep my hands off, everything is so inviting, the staff at the Davis Art Center is amazing and they have created a safe and fun place to create. I hope you have a chance to make it over to check it out. This great community space is working towards a goal too! They would like to raise 50,000 dollars and WE can help! If you are interested in donating to the Davis Art Center you can click here. If you are interested in acquiring this piece of art work that is currently in progress you can email me.

I hope to see you soon!

Monterey Muesum of Art, In Process: Andrew Schoultz

Last night was the opening reception at Monterey Muesum of Art, In Process: Andrew Schoultz  at  La Mirada. With the words Public Art and Monterey in one sentence you could not keep me away! I love seeing rooms change and large scale murals do just that. Andrew Schoultz coating the walls and floors, well and even the air with art work that had many people talking all night long. Schoultz was in Juxtapoz Magazine, who sponsored this San Francisco based artist to paint at MMA. Here is a short 2 min video of the process, HERE. The work will be up until November.

I also got to see the historical murals!
